The delicious, firm, juicy flesh is white, yellow, cream, salmon or green in colour and has a sweet, refreshing flavour. There are 5 main varieties: Galia, Charentais or Cantaloupe, Honey Dew, Yellow, and Green or “Piel de Sapo” (Toad skin). Melons have large quantities of provitamin A (mainly beta-carotene) and 100 grammes of rindless melon provides 50% of the daily recommended intake of Vitamin C.
